Words appear as you speak
Transcription runs live, using the speech models already on your device. You can read along, and you can stop whenever you like.
Whatever was said up to that moment is already saved. If a call comes in, or the app is closed mid-sentence, the recording keeps what it had rather than losing the lot.
The summary writes itself
Every recording is summarized automatically when you stop. You get the gist in plain prose, a checklist of action items, and suggested next steps: an email to send, a meeting to book, a reminder to set.
Each suggestion opens your own Mail, Calendar, or Reminders app with the details filled in. Nothing is sent on your behalf.
Everything is editable
Transcription is very good, not perfect. Fix a name or a number and ask for a fresh summary. Action items and next steps can be reworded, added, or deleted, and the ones you write yourself are kept when the summary is regenerated.
Search across every transcript, jump to a date, rename notes, and export any note as a PDF or plain text.
Nothing leaves your iPhone
This is not a policy choice that could quietly change later. Steno has no networking code and no server to talk to. There is nothing to opt out of, because there is nothing being collected.

- No upload Recordings, transcripts, and summaries are stored only on your device.
- No analytics No tracking, no third-party SDKs, no advertising identifiers.
- On-device AI Transcription and summaries use Apple's built-in speech recognition and Apple Intelligence.
- You choose what leaves Sharing a note, or sending a suggested email, hands it to the app you picked, and only then.
- Delete means deleted Removing a note removes its audio and text from the device. There is no copy elsewhere.
